International Conference on eXtended Reality
XR SALENTO 2023
SEPTEMBER 6-9, 2023
LECCE, ITALY
The International Conference on eXtended Reality (XR Salento) is an event dedicated to the eXtended Reality (XR), the umbrella term that covers Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR).
For the first time, XR Salento is organised as a joint event and co-located with the 21st Eurographics Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage (GCH 2023), to be held September 4-6, 2023.
On September 6th the two conferences will have a special interactive session dedicated to 'XR for Cultural Heritage', which will contribute to cross-fertilization between the sectors.
XR SALENTO is an evolution of previous editions of the International Conference on Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Computer Graphics (Salento AVR), which had united the AR/VR community since 2014.
To cope with the increasing demand of application of XR technologies in several fields, XR Salento 2023 will also focus on topics such as Digital Twins embracing Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Mining to create a digital representation, gather and store real-time data, simulate the future state, and facilitate optimization.
The event provides a unique opportunity for discussion and debate among scientists, engineers, educators, students and allows them to connect with fellow entrepreneurs and companies operating in the same sector, thus experiencing applications of these emerging technologies.
XR Salento 2023 is organized by Augmented and Virtual Reality Laboratory and supported by University of Salento.

LECCE, ITALY
Lecce is a historic city of 95,200 inhabitants in southern Italy, the capital of the province of Lecce, the second province in the region by population, as well as one of the most important cities of Apulia. It is the main city of the Salentine Peninsula, a sub-peninsula at the heel of the Italian Peninsula and is over 2,000 years old.
Because of the rich Baroque architectural monuments found in the city, Lecce is commonly nicknamed “The Florence of the South”. The city also has a long traditional affinity with Greek culture going back to its foundation; the Messapii who founded the city are said to have been Cretans in Greek records. To this day, in the Grecìa Salentina, a group of towns not far from Lecce, the griko language is still spoken.
