In order to accommodate a large number of situations, XR Salento 2022 will be a hybrid conference, giving participants the opportunity to attend the event in presence or remotely (pdf slides or pre-recorded videos)
The 1st International Conference on eXtended Reality (XR SALENTO 2022) intends to provide a discussion forum for scientists, engineers, educators and students on the latest research, theory, ideas, models and applications of eXtended Reality (XR), a technological umbrella that brings together Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR). The aim of XR technology is to achieve an extension of the real world by allowing the perception of the surrounding reality in a different and improved way, combining it with virtual elements. The goal of XR Salento 2022 is to create a friendly environment that can lead to the creation or strengthening of scientific collaborations and exchanges between participants and, therefore, to solicit the submission of high-quality original research papers (including significant work-in-progress) on any aspect and application of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality. The scientific program committee with the help of external reviewers will carefully evaluate the contributions taking into account originality, significance, technical soundness and clarity of exposition.
Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and published in Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) published by Springer.
For further information, please contact the chairs at info@xrsalento.it
XR Salento 2022 solicits the submission of original contributions that must not have been previously published. The best papers will be selected by the Scientific Committee.
Two different types of paper are accepted: full papers (10–20 pages), and short papers (6-9 pages). Accepted short papers will be published in the conference proceedings and presented at the conference as poster.
Special sessions have the main aim of creating a mini-workshop on a specific topic, where researchers working on the same argument can make knowledge, familiarize, exchange ideas, create cooperation.
To propose a special session, you are invited to download the form for special session proposal and to send it to info@xrsalento.it by December 31, 2021.
Lecce is a historic city of 95,200 inhabitants in southern Italy, the capital of the province of Lecce, the second province in the region by population, as well as one of the most important cities of Apulia. It is the main city of the Salentine Peninsula, a sub-peninsula at the heel of the Italian Peninsula and is over 2,000 years old.
Because of the rich Baroque architectural monuments found in the city, Lecce is commonly nicknamed “The Florence of the South”. The city also has a long traditional affinity with Greek culture going back to its foundation; the Messapii who founded the city are said to have been Cretans in Greek records. To this day, in the Grecìa Salentina, a group of towns not far from Lecce, the griko language is still spoken.
